With digital entertainment booming, streaming platforms are racing to release new content at an unprecedented pace. However, industry insiders suggest that one particular OTT service has begun earning a questionable reputation among producers.
According to those working closely with the platform, it has been launching new shows almost every week and investing heavily in outdoor promotions, including large hoardings in major cities. While the marketing push appears impressive, several producers claim the focus on quantity may be affecting the quality of the content.
Sources say there is reportedly limited creative coordination within the platform’s internal teams. In addition, the timelines provided for producing shows are said to be extremely tight, making it difficult for creators to maintain high production standards.
One example frequently discussed involves a recently released series. Insiders claim that certain portions of the show were re-shot even after it had already been launched on the platform. Updated versions of the episodes were then uploaded later.
This means that viewers who watched the series shortly after its release might actually have seen a different version than those watching it now. For instance, episode six viewed months later could reportedly contain changes compared to the original upload.
Despite such issues, the platform’s overall strategy appears to focus on rapidly expanding its library of content and increasing its market presence. According to industry chatter, the goal may be to boost valuation and scale quickly in hopes of achieving a lucrative sale or investment opportunity in the future.
Guess:
- ZEE5 – please confirm if you have seen hoardings of its shows in your metro?
- ALTBalaji – they have been dropping one show every week. Do they have hoardings in prime locations?
Cant be Prime or Netflix as they are multinational brands and would hardly need to “build valuation & volume”
