Bollywood is no stranger to drama, but industry insiders say the behaviour of one newcomer actress and her mother has been surprising many people. The actress, who has already appeared in a few successful films, is known to come across as sweet, humble and friendly in public, especially with the paparazzi. However, those who work closely with her claim that the reality may be quite different.
Sources say that both the actress and her mother can be rude and short-tempered with their own staff and managers. According to insiders, the pair are quick to lose their cool and often use harsh language when things don’t go their way.
The actress comes from a well-known film family. While her father is a respected actor who was once known for his blunt attitude toward the media but has since mellowed, her mother — also a former actress — has long had a reputation for being outspoken and temperamental.
Industry chatter suggests that their behaviour has sometimes upset filmmakers as well. In a few cases, directors reportedly removed the young actress from projects due to issues with her conduct, although her mother has occasionally stepped in to resolve matters and get her reinstated.
It is said that small problems on set — such as costume issues, delayed food, late payments from producers or even staff arriving late due to rain — can trigger angry outbursts from either the actress or her mother. As a result, many members of her team, including makeup artists and hairstylists, reportedly choose not to continue working with her.
According to insiders, staff members often share stories about being scolded or verbally abused when something goes wrong. The mother is also said to remind them frequently about her own past in the industry and how she never hesitated to speak her mind, even with top stars.
Observers believe that the daughter may have begun adopting a similar attitude. Her father has reportedly tried advising her to remain polite and professional, as the industry values good behaviour, but his advice may not always be followed.
Recently, the actress is said to have missed out on a major project that instead went to another star daughter who is considered more professional on set. While that actress too has a reputation for being demanding, insiders say she remains disciplined when dealing with filmmakers and her staff.
Some in the industry feel that if the newcomer wants a long and successful career, she may need to change her approach before her reputation causes further setbacks.
