A surprising behind-the-scenes incident reportedly took place during the production of a Bollywood horror-comedy directed by a filmmaker from the South industry who was making his Hindi film debut.
According to industry sources, the director eventually walked away from the project midway through production. Reports suggested that tensions had been building for some time, with the filmmaker allegedly unhappy about how he was being treated by the producers. One of the main issues, insiders claim, was that his signing fee had not been paid as expected.
Adding to the frustration was the way key creative decisions were handled. The director was reportedly not consulted about the casting of the female lead, which left him feeling sidelined during an important stage of the production.
In fact, sources say he only discovered who had been cast as the heroine just minutes before the first day of filming began. The makers had previously indicated that they planned to bring on board a top actress from the industry. However, when shooting started, he reportedly learned that the role had been given to a relatively new face instead.
Although the actress was considered talented and had worked in several South Indian films—which made communication easier on set—the situation was not what the director had originally expected. There were also said to be several creative disagreements during the early phase of filming.
Eventually, matters escalated, and the director decided to step away from the project. Members of the team attempted to convince him to return, but he reportedly refused to continue discussions, particularly with one of the film’s producers.
The situation was ultimately resolved when one of the film’s actor-producers personally travelled to meet the director. Known in the industry for his calm approach and business sense, he reportedly helped smooth things over and restore working relations.
In the end, the conflict was settled and the production managed to move forward.
