The global spread of COVID-19 has begun impacting Bollywood, with several high-profile projects facing unexpected delays and schedule changes.
One of the biggest films affected is a multi-starrer that was set to begin shooting with an extensive schedule across Italy. With travel concerns rising, the makers have decided to postpone the overseas portion. Instead, they are exploring the possibility of starting with indoor scenes that can be filmed in studios in Mumbai or Hyderabad, while pushing the European schedule to a later date.
Another project facing disruption is a remake of a popular 90s comedy. The film was nearly complete, with only a song left to be shot in an international location. Due to the situation, the team is now considering domestic alternatives like Ooty or studio setups in Hyderabad to wrap up filming.
A third project, backed by a major production house and starring a leading actress alongside a rising young actor, is also in limbo. The film was supposed to kick off with an overseas schedule, but the team is now debating whether to delay production or rework the script to shift locations within India.
The uncertainty around travel has clearly forced filmmakers to rethink plans, adapt quickly, and find creative solutions to keep their projects on track.
