Industry chatter suggests that the director-producer of a recent film had included a specific condition in the contract with the movie’s lead actor. The clause reportedly allowed the filmmaker to deduct a portion of the actor’s fee if he failed to reach a predetermined body weight before the start of shooting.
While such contractual conditions are fairly common in Hollywood, they are less typical in Bollywood, which often operates on long-standing relationships and informal understandings. Because of this, the clause reportedly caused some discomfort behind the scenes.
According to insiders, when it became clear that the actor had not achieved the agreed weight, the filmmaker chose to enforce the condition. The decision is said to have created friction between the two, although they maintained a cordial and professional appearance while promoting the film publicly.
