A well-known leading lady from the 1980s, who stepped away from acting after becoming a mother, recently surprised audiences with a powerful performance in a successful thriller. Despite not being heavily featured in the film’s promotional campaigns, her role received some of the strongest praise from critics and viewers alike.
However, those expecting a full-fledged comeback might be disappointed. According to people close to the actress, she has little interest in returning to the demanding routine of film shoots.
Insiders reveal that it was actually her daughter—who is also an actress—who strongly encouraged her to take up the role in the first place. When the film’s director approached the veteran star, she was hesitant, but her daughter reportedly convinced her that her talent deserved to be seen on screen from time to time.
Even after agreeing to the project, the actress reportedly had reservations about certain aspects of the shoot. The film required travel to Europe, something she wasn’t particularly excited about, especially because it meant being away from her children for an extended period.
Sources from the film’s team say that at one point she even considered returning to Mumbai when her cook took time off, as she worried about how things would be managed at home. Eventually, her daughter reassured her that everything would be taken care of and even promised to make arrangements so that her brother would also be looked after.
Friends of the actress say she often jokes that she has already worked hard enough during her younger years and no longer feels the need to pursue acting actively. In fact, she reportedly says she only accepts roles when she needs the money and sometimes jokes that winning a lottery would mean she’d never have to work again.
Given the praise she continues to receive for her performances, many fans feel it’s a shame that such talent isn’t seen on screen more often.
