A well-known Bollywood actress reportedly turned down an offer to perform in a glamorous item number for a superstar’s home production, which has apparently left the actor disappointed.
According to industry chatter, the superstar—currently working on a cop-themed action film—had approached the actress to feature in a high-energy dance number in the movie. The two had previously shared screen space in a period romance that performed moderately at the box office but generated a lot of attention for their on-screen chemistry. Their lively interactions during promotions had also been widely discussed by fans and the media.
The plan for the song was reportedly designed as a show-stopping moment in the film. The actress would begin the performance solo, with the superstar joining her midway through the sequence.
However, the actress eventually declined the offer. Sources suggest that one of the reasons involved differences regarding the choreographer for the song. The actress reportedly preferred working with a choreographer who is also a close friend and has since moved into film direction. The superstar, however, was said to prefer another choreographer associated with the production.
Industry insiders claim that tensions between the superstar and the choreographer-turned-director had been brewing for some time. The situation may have become more complicated because the choreographer has also been collaborating with another leading actor who reportedly shares a strained relationship with the superstar.
Another factor that reportedly added to the superstar’s disappointment was the actress choosing to allocate her dates to a film featuring that same actor.
Meanwhile, the actress is said to be focusing more on substantial acting roles rather than special dance numbers at this stage of her career. Sources suggest she may have felt that appearing in an item song right now could distract from the kind of projects she wants to pursue.
Despite the disagreement, people close to both stars believe the situation is unlikely to cause a permanent rift. The actress is known to share a warm relationship with the superstar’s family and often attends their social gatherings.
Interestingly, the film’s lead actress has now reportedly stepped in to perform the song instead. She is said to be happy about the opportunity, as such performances can increase visibility and lead to additional stage shows and appearances.
