After the spectacular crash of a star son’s ambitious period drama, panic buttons are being smashed across production offices. One filmmaker — whose upcoming big-budget thriller features the embattled actor — has reportedly made a sharp marketing pivot.
The glossy whodunit, filmed across picturesque locations in Greece, Turkey, and Thailand, was initially conceived as a full-fledged star vehicle. Not anymore. Insiders say the campaign has been recalibrated to push the film as a sleek ensemble thriller, highlighting six principal characters instead of placing the struggling actor front and center.
With a string of underperformers behind him, the star son is hardly in a position to object. Trade chatter suggests financiers are growing nervous, and at least two projects that were expected to roll soon may now be quietly shelved.
