The ability to move and change with the times is perhaps the most important secret to sustaining success in our line of work. In fact, one cannot even call it a secret as everyone recognises the need for constant reinvention but few actually put it in practice. It is therefore heartening to see this production house go in for a radical makeover.
The banner has been around for ages and has many successes to its credit. It specialises in making films on a tight budget with often sensationalist plots and chart-topping music. That formula served it very well for many years but ultimately the penny-saving compromises started showing in their films, and in their success ratio.
To the banner’s credit, they realised that they needed to hit the reset’ button and ensure quality control to survive in a market which is fast evolving. So much so, that when the head honcho saw the rough cut of their under-production film and wasn’t too happy with the way it had shaped up, he decided to virtually reshoot the entire film even though some advised him that the film’s music and concept would be enough for it to cross the safety mark. Way to go, we say, and good to see someone making the right choice in these adapt-or-perish times.
