A well-known producer dad is said to have raised an eyebrow when he learned that his daughter’s next film might skip theatres altogether and arrive directly on a streaming platform. The concern isn’t hard to understand. The young actor has barely had a proper big-screen run—just one theatrical outing so far—while another of her projects was always intended for digital. Adding yet another OTT release to the mix didn’t feel like the ideal trajectory.

Those backing the film, however, reportedly stepped in to calm his nerves. They argued that a streaming debut could actually amplify reach, placing the film in front of a far larger audience than a conventional theatrical rollout might manage under current circumstances. They also promised an aggressive promotional push to ensure the film doesn’t get lost in the clutter. More importantly, they reassured him that her other project with the same banner is firmly intended for cinemas.

That seems to have done the trick—for now. The father is said to be on board, and the actor herself is apparently quite kicked about the film. But there’s a new twist. Buzz suggests that yet another project she wrapped just before the lockdown could also be headed the digital route. If that happens, it may reopen the same concerns all over again.
