Ever since this South Indian film turned into a major blockbuster earlier this year, several Hindi filmmakers have been eager to acquire the remake rights. The success of the movie has sparked intense interest in Bollywood, with many producers hoping to recreate the same magic for Hindi audiences.
Interestingly, industry chatter suggests that there is considerable confusion surrounding who actually holds the rights to remake the film. Depending on whom you ask, as many as three different producers are currently claiming to have secured the rights to adapt the movie in Hindi.
The situation has reportedly become even more complicated because different actors have been approached separately by these producers for their respective versions of the project. However, it is clear that multiple producers cannot all possess the official remake rights at the same time.
Ultimately, the final decision still rests with the original producer of the South Indian film. Sources say that several Bollywood production houses are currently in discussions with him, hoping to obtain the official rights.
It remains to be seen which studio will eventually secure the deal and which actor will end up playing the lead role in the Hindi adaptation. What is certain, though, is that the interested parties will have to act quickly, as timing could play a crucial role in this race.
