A bubbly 90s leading lady — once crowned the “chirpiest” heroine of her era — is reportedly nursing hurt feelings after a less-than-helpful interaction with her longtime co-star. The two go way back, having made their splash together in a blockbuster Romeo-and-Juliet-style romance in the late ’80s.
Recently, the actress invited her superstar friend to a special screening of her modest indie film, hoping to tap into his legendary marketing brain. After all, the actor is widely regarded as a promotional wizard. He’s known for outrageous, headline-grabbing campaigns — from influencing cinema staff to copy his character’s haircut to personally going undercover across cities to plug another release. His box-office triumphs are often credited as much to smart marketing as to performance.
He showed up at the screening with his wife, applauded the effort, and offered polite congratulations once the film ended. But when it came to strategy, advice, or game-changing ideas? Silence.
The actress reportedly lingered, expecting insight. None came. Word is she later concluded that her friend may have chosen restraint deliberately — perhaps because her film occupies a similar creative space as a project his wife recently directed, starring him in a key role. With both films eyeing release around the same window, the screening may have unintentionally given the “competition” a preview.
Sometimes in Bollywood, old friendships bow to box-office politics.
