The filmmaker and the lead actor were reportedly quite adamant about their respective choices for the female lead in their upcoming collaboration. The director was keen on casting his regular collaborator and favourite heroine, feeling he owed her a significant role after she had consistently placed her faith in him through several of his smaller projects. Meanwhile, the actor was pushing for his actress girlfriend, rightly arguing that her strong talent and star power would elevate the film’s visibility.
Insiders reveal that this disagreement over casting continued for months, with neither side willing to easily back down. Ultimately, it was the influential producer financing the film who intervened and pointed out that both suggested actresses were not the ideal fit, particularly because they appeared too young for the character being envisioned. He then reportedly recommended exploring more established and suitable alternatives.
In a rather ironic twist, the role has now gone to a top actress who also happens to share a past romantic history with the male star.
