Because of its strong association with her, the actress reportedly feels it is unfair that the same track will now be filmed again with another performer, effectively shifting its ownership in the public imagination.
According to industry buzz, the actress reached out to people involved with the new project to express her disappointment. She was said to be particularly upset because the male star who appeared with her in the original version of the song continues to feature in the new film as well.
Many observers point out that this highlights a common trend in Bollywood — even decades after their original success, male actors often continue to headline big films, while actresses from the same era are replaced by younger faces.
Sources claim the film’s makers responded politely but explained that the decision was beyond their control. The actress even suggested that if the song had to be included in the film, she would be open to performing it herself.
However, it seems her concerns did not lead to any change. The recreated version of the song has reportedly already been filmed and will now appear in the new movie, performed by a younger actress who is expected to add another hit track to her list.
