During the initial wave of the Me Too movement in India last year, several names from the film industry were publicly accused of inappropriate behaviour toward colleagues and aspiring actors. However, as time passed, the momentum of the movement slowed and many of those mentioned continued to work in the industry without facing serious consequences.
That situation may now change. According to industry chatter, a well-known A-list actor—currently headlining several major projects—could soon find himself at the centre of a controversy. Sources claim an actress, who may not be among the biggest stars but has built a respectable body of work, is considering speaking out about her experience with him.
Insiders say there was an exchange of text messages between the two, during which the actor allegedly made inappropriate advances toward her. The actress reportedly responded firmly, asking him to stop. Following that, the actor is said to have apologised and requested that she forget the incident.
However, the actress is believed to be unwilling to let the matter slide. She reportedly still has the messages and may consider sharing them publicly. According to people close to her, she is not afraid of the consequences and has received encouragement from friends in the industry to come forward.
Meanwhile, those within the actor’s circle are said to be worried about the potential fallout if the messages become public. Observers say the situation could develop into a major controversy if the actress decides to speak out.
